First boat trip of the year

We are having an exciting week here in Bakersfield....Sierra is visiting from Washington!!! The weather is a bit cooler this week, but we are still managing to have fun. This was Parker's first boat experience too! He tried out his new life jacket and enjoyed the big adventure outdoors.

Best Buds for Life

I have been quietly watching the blossoming friendship of Lola and Parker. During my pregnancy, I always knew their friendship was inevitable but wasn't quite sure how quickly it would evolve. Lola was very curious the first few weeks and was a bit jealous of the new addition to our family. You can tell by the photos below that she was a little annoyed by this loud crying "thing" that took up all her cuddle time with mom.



As the months have gone by, the two have grown closer and Lola finally accepted Parker into the Fischback pack. Wherever Parker is, Lola is always close by. He has started to reach out for her to lick his hand, and is very surprised when he gets a slobbery kiss on the face. Most of our son’s laughing moments usually include Lola, which makes us laugh too. We were a little nervous last night when Parker, with mouth fully wide open, grabbed Lola’s face and ears with both hands and pulled her in….just like he would with one of his toys. You gotta figure out life somehow….right? Lets just keep our fingers crossed that he remains a nice boy to our family pets and doesn’t start torturing our little Lola. I don’t know why, but I have this strange feeling that he might take after his mischievous father.

The first of many playdates

My friend Erica and I finally got together to introduce our two little boys. They weren't quite sure of each other at first, but I think they started to warm up at the end of the play date. At this age, I think it's more fun for the moms to get out of the house than for the babies to interact. We laughed because both of our boys slept most of the day while we chatted.

Family Portraits

I just got a little teary looking back at our family photos we took when Parker was just two weeks old. Wow, I can't believe the little guy is going to be 6 months old in less than two weeks. Time really does fly when you are having fun :) Parker has been such a blessing to our lives and I am so excited to watch him grow. Photos by the fabulous Lorie Chambless

Gotta Love Naked Babies

Parker was enjoying some nakey time on floor. He doesn't get to do this very often because the weather and house have been cold, and I learned very early on that "boys will be boys" and will go at the most unexpected times. I just love cute little baby butts...they make this momma laugh :)

Yum....Sweet Potatoes!

We have a big boy on our hands! Parker has finally taken his first bite of baby food. We tried rice cereal at first, but he completely hated the taste. After two weeks of experimenting with the terribly bland cereal (yes I tasted it and I don't blame the little guy for not liking it), we finally tried organic sweet potatoes. At first he wasn't too sure of the flavor, but after a few bites we couldn't scoop it in fast enough. He now loves his daily baby food adventures and has tried peas, pears, and carrots. Up next on the menu, green beans...YUM. For now I am trying the store bought Gerber variety, but I am excited to try making my own baby food very soon.

My Martha Momement

Now that I am a SAHM (stay at home mom) I have found that after all the dishes are done and the house is clean, I need something creative to do once in a while. Parker takes a few one hour naps throughout the day, so it had to be something that can remain a work in progress. Why not SEWING???? I know my grandmothers would be proud after all the time and patience they spent teaching me how to sew as kiddo. So I decided to dust off the old sewing machine that has been hiding in the closet.














I discovered this amazing quilting store called "Strawberry Patches" that a friend recommended. Oh, and the fabric is so amazingly CUTE, I can't stand it! I pretty much went fabric crazy with ideas and projects....tie onesies, ruffle butt onesies, aprons, burprags. $80 later, I may have been a little over ambitious, but I leave with a smile on my face for the adventures that await me.
