Autumn Glam Tutorial
Looking to add a modern twist to your decorating this fall? Try this easy DIY table centerpiece to add glam to any dining room table or fireplace mantel.
To start, you will need a few faux pumpkins (one large and two small will do) and some metallic champagne colored spray paint. I found these on sale at Michael's and used a 40% off coupon for the spray paint.
Next, you will need some faux fall foliage and feathers.....also found these at Michael's. Look for a mixture of texture, color and sparkle. I used a combination of black and silver sparkly leaves, brown feathers, and vibrant green branches for color. Orange accents would also be a great alternative to the green.
To create height and variation I gathered some odds and ends around the house. I found white candles, a set of crystal candle holders, a long stem glass candle votive (an upside down wine glass would work just as well) and a small white cake stand......love this collection by Martha Stewart.
To anchor the centerpiece to the table, use neutral table runner. I brought out my white damask runner we received as a wedding gift to go with my autumn glam theme. Strategically lay out your leaves, branches, and feathers to create a little "nest" around the large pumpkin. From there, casually add each additional pumpkin and house hold item you found to create height and design your centerpiece. There is not a right answer here so just have fun and don't be affraid of getting creative......turn that wine glass or candle holder upside down to get a whole new look. Once you have create a symmetrical display with your pumpkins and candle holders, spruce up some of the foliage by separating the leaves and branches to create some additional volume. And voila........you have your self a modern Autumn centerpiece to blend perfectly with your home decor.
